Wait a minute…it’s summer?

6/22/26

I had every intention of writing this post back on Good Friday, but alas, it seems as though I got caught up in celebrating Easter season, and now we’re well into Pentecost (here’s a link, in case you’re not all that liturgical).

It was such a DRY spring but I’m grateful we are finally getting a few good summer showers. My five tomato plants are thriving, although I’m having to ward off whatever nocturnal creatures are taking big bites out of the low hanging fruit at night. And I’m very thankful for my next door neighbor’s daddy, who generously shares all kinds of good stuff from his delta garden.

Enjoyed a quick trip to our beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast a couple of weeks ago with a long overdue visit to Ship Island on the itinerary. I always enjoy staying at the Seashore United Methodist Assembly (donations welcomed!). It offers peace and quiet and one of the prettiest views along historic Highway 90.

In between Deep Roots music work and church service, I’ve been trying to again ‘streamline’ my digital world. The Big Front Porch website is being refreshed, and I’ll be moving my music ‘store’ over to BandCamp (https://triciawalker.bandcamp.com/) where you can listen to or purchase downloads of my recorded music. I don’t keep many physical CDs anymore (newer cars don’t have CD players!), but if you need one, reach out by email to info@bigfrontporch.com.

And speaking of email, I’m going to shift this occasional newsletter over to a site called Substack. It’s easier to manage and seems to be a better place for folks who are writers rather than retailers/marketers. When that change happens, I’ll send out an email. Nothing required on your part, and as always, I appreciate having a way to stay directly connected with you all, since I’m also trimming down my ‘friends lists’ on social media.

Fresh tomatoes, sweet watermelon, exciting baseball, coffee and chicory, local music, and the amazing grace of God…all wrapped up in this sweet community smack dab in the middle of the most Southern place on earth…the Mississippi Delta.

Be well, friends….

Tricia
